The popularity of e-book readers has been increasing for some time now. It’s most likely not unreasonable to suggest that the Amazon Kindle reader has been a key factor in the growth of the e-book reader market. When it was originally launched in November of 2007, the Kindle, whilst not first to market, was a significant improvement on the other readers available at that time.

For the first time ever, the organisers of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), being held in Las Vegas, have set aside a special zone for e-book readers. It’s hardly surprising – there are at least two dozen different manufacturers showing off e-book readers at the show.

The increased level of awareness, both from electronics manufacturers and the public is perfectly understandable. After all, 2009 was a bumper year for e-book readers. All the signs are that 2010 could be even bigger.
