Find and Fix Errors

Rundll32 errors are caused by a variety of problems such as viruses, malware, spyware, or registry errors. Viruses and spyware that are undetected can be the cause for rundll32 errors as well as registry errors such as damaged installations of applications or incomplete uninstalls.

A rundll32 error takes place when Windows is unsuccessfully trying to load a file because it isn’t able to locate it anywhere on your system. This is when a pop-up appears indicating that a rundll32 error has occurred, a file can’t be found, and you are frustrated and annoyed because the software won’t startup.

To do this simply type “msconfig” into the run dialogue box. Then choose the selective startup option and deselect all but one choice listed below it and reboot your personal.

Continue to reboot your computer with only one startup option selected to test each system. This process should identify what process contains the error. Once you know what process contains the error you choose the tab at the top of the Window that corresponds to the item that has been identified. You then select one option below that and continue to reboot your computer until you find the process that contains the error.

If you are unsuccessful finding the error or do not feel comfortable altering your system, use a registry repair program. There are a few very good registry scanners that can fix rundll32.exe quickly.
